A Window Framed of Geckos

Sitting in the kitchen at night, we watch and admire the geckos skillfully snap up skittering moths on the window pane. Some geckos live inside running up and down the walls and ceiling.

What better insect control than the gecko? Not many spiders can compete with them.

Outside, creeping silently on their specialized feet, the geckos line their bodies along the white window frame almost disappearing into the wood. The moth fanatically flapping against the window pane and towards the indoor kitchen lights is snatched up with a clap of jaws. Through the geckos' translucent bellies, we can see a gruesome display of death and digestion.

Yesterday, a baby gecko caught in an outdoor water basin scampered for freedom. Lightly, I scooped him into my hands. The soft reptile skittered away as I put my hand to the wall. Pretty amazing and prolific creature. Look up the gecko and read about their strange characteristics.
